I grew up in Great Neck, New York, on the north shore of Long Island, about 45 minutes on the train from New York City. I played tennis, fencing, and lacrosse through the school year. I practiced the oboe several hours per day, in addition to pursuing these athletic activities. I was fortunate enough to travel extensively in Europe and around the U.S., as well as to Japan with my family, before heading to college.
At Northwestern, I was able to pursue the activities that mattered most to me, while studying hard to earn degrees in math and economics. I was a 4-year member of both the Marching Band and the Women's Varsity Fencing team. This involvement defined my college experience, and because it was so wonderful, I have continued to be an active member of the Northwestern Alumni Community, serving as a board member for the Northwestern Club of Chicago.
I have recently completed an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago - Booth School of Business. I work as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst at Pitchbook, based in Seattle. Additionally, I have recently begun a master’s degree in Data Analytics from Georgia Tech. In addition to these master’s degrees, I have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. I love working in business intelligence because it allows me to combine two disciplines: business and data analytics. It is the perfect balance of both, with endless fun projects to work on!
For two years, I tutored three girls weekly at the Metro Achievement Center for Girls in Greektown. The goal of the Midtown Educational Foundation is to help girls and boys learn good study habits, tutor them in their homework, and advise them on non-school related matters. I served as a role model for these girls, helping them to build good habits and get good grades. Due to time restrictions, I no longer volunteer with MEF on a weekly basis, and instead am volunteering on an ad-hoc basis.
I continue to practice the oboe, although not nearly as much as I did in grade school. I gave a recital in June 2015, in Chicago. I take lessons from a teacher in Chicago as well as in New York.
I hope to continue to travel as much as possible. I recently traveled to Costa Rica, Whistler, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 2020, given travel restrictions, I have not traveled far from the Chicago area, with the exception of traveling to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee/ North Carolina.
The last of my current activities involves serving as a mentor in the Northwestern Mentoring Program, for which I received the Northwestern Wildcat of the Week Award, and also as a member of the Northwestern Alumni Association Career & Networking committee. Additionally, I have served as a co-chair for the Graduate Women in Business at the University of Chicago -Booth, co-chair for the Wine Club at the University of Chicago - Booth, a member of the Admissions Committee, and as a new student (LAUNCH) mentor. I have also participated in the Booth Fellows Program, a program which pairs Booth students with non-profit organizations to help the organization with a strategic long-term project.
